## Meaning of Automatic Direction Finder

An airborne radio-direction-finding receiver indicating the bearing of a station.

### More about Automatic Direction Finder

An automatic direction finder receives a suitable radio signal, commonly from an NDB, and provides directional information.

It does not directly provide distance. The indication must be interpreted using aircraft heading and the relevant navigation procedure, and signal conditions can affect its usefulness.
