## Meaning of Autopilot

A system that controls the aircraft's flight path using selected modes and targets.

### More about Autopilot

An autopilot can hold a heading or altitude, or follow a programmed route. Its available functions depend on the installed equipment and phase of flight.

Pilots select and monitor its modes and disconnect it when necessary. It does not make the crew's decisions about weather, routing or flight safety.
