## Meaning of Density altitude

The altitude in the standard atmosphere corresponding to actual air density.

### More about Density altitude

Density altitude expresses how thin or dense the air is in performance terms. Temperature and pressure are important influences.

High density altitude generally reduces aircraft performance. It is not a direct measurement of height above terrain and must not be substituted for the altitude used to maintain obstacle clearance.
