## Meaning of Heading

The direction in which the aircraft's longitudinal axis points, measured from a chosen north reference.

### More about Heading

Heading describes nose direction rather than actual movement over the ground.

Wind can make ground track differ from heading. Navigation must also distinguish true and magnetic north, using the reference specified for the particular task.
