## Meaning of International Air Transport Association

The International Air Transport Association, associated with industry standards and airline and airport codes.

### More about International Air Transport Association

IATA is an airline trade association. Its familiar three-letter airport codes differ from the four-letter location indicators used in the ICAO system.

The two coding systems serve different purposes. An organisation's code should be interpreted in context rather than assumed to be interchangeable with another aviation identifier.
