## Meaning of Jet engine

An engine producing thrust by accelerating and expelling a working fluid.

### More about Jet engine

A jet engine takes in air, adds energy and accelerates the flow. Different engine arrangements distribute that energy in different ways.

A turbofan produces much of its thrust through its fan stream. The broad term jet engine does not imply that all thrust comes from a narrow central exhaust.
