# NHIndustries NH90 TTH

The NH90 TTH is the tactical transport variant of the European NH90 for troops, cargo, and casualty evacuation.

## History

The NH90 TTH is the tactical transport member of the European NH90 helicopter family. TTH stands for Tactical Transport Helicopter and distinguishes the land-oriented aircraft from the maritime NFH version. The boundary matters: they share a platform but have different principal duties and specialized systems. Equipment designed for the anti-submarine NFH should not automatically be assigned to a transport model.

Manufacturer NHIndustries describes TTH as an aircraft for moving personnel and cargo, search and rescue, and other utility missions. Its spacious cabin can be rearranged for a flight's purpose. A stated capacity of up to twenty fully equipped troops applies under defined conditions. Different fuel loads, additional equipment, or demanding terrain can change the payload available in practice.

The design has two engines, a composite airframe, and a multiply redundant fly-by-wire control system. These features were part of the program's modern technical concept. Redundancy helps withstand individual failures, but safe flight still calls for trained crews, maintenance, and respect for operating limits. Sophisticated controls do not remove dependence on weather and landing conditions.

Logistics missions can use space inside the cabin or an external sling load. The manufacturer also lists packages for medical evacuation, rescue, and special operations. Those are possible configurations, not equipment fitted to every delivered aircraft. Before publishing the capabilities of a particular national fleet, an editor should establish which devices were ordered and installed.

Tactical transport involves more than a range figure. Two side doors can speed entry and exit, while cabin fittings affect how stretchers or freight are arranged. Warning and observation equipment may help a crew operate in reduced visibility. Actual performance nevertheless depends on trained teams, available spare parts, and supply routes.

NH90 TTH illustrates the attempt to create a common European platform with different national configurations. Design commonality can simplify part of the support system, while customer differences remain. An accurate profile identifies the operator, version, year, and installed mission package. Readers can then understand the transport TTH without confusing it with the naval NFH or an advertisement containing every optional feature.
