On March 10, 2026, Dassault Aviation presented the Falcon 10X at the production hall in Bordeaux-Merignac. More than four hundred customers, partners and industry representatives attended the event. The rollout indicated the aircraft shown was ready for the next stage of the program, but was not a message about the completion of certification or the start of regular passenger transportation.

The new Falcon has a stated range of 7,500 nautical miles and maximum speed of Mach 0.925. It combines a composite wing, digital flight controls, the new NeXus flight deck and Rolls-Royce Pearl 10X engines. Passenger space is another important feature: the announced cabin width is 2.77 metres and its height is 2.03 metres.

## What happens between rollout and use?

Rolling out makes the new aircraft visible as an assembled product. This is a significant production step that is different from an interior mockup or computer rendering. But the assembled aircraft still needs to be tested as a single system. Ground work precedes the expansion of capabilities in the air, and test results are compared with requirements and calculations.

The program has several parallel directions. The structure must withstand the intended loads, the equipment must interact correctly, and people must understand the behavior of the aircraft. Confirmation of one property does not automatically mean the others are ready. Therefore, progress is measured by the totality of completed tasks, and not just by the number of days after the beautiful ceremony.

The test aircraft may also differ from the customer's future configuration. Measuring equipment and specialist workstations occupy space that is otherwise used in a production aircraft. This is a normal feature of a development program. The photo of the prototype shows the current stage, but does not replace the description of the final passenger cabin and equipment of a specific order.

## Composite wing as part of the overall solution

Composite materials allow engineers to choose the direction of reinforcing fibers based on the loads they can bear. This property makes it possible to design the shape and rigidity of the structure. But the material itself does not create a ready-made advantage. The result depends on the calculation, technological process, connections and quality control of the manufactured product.

The wing has several tasks at the same time: to create lift, absorb loads and ensure the desired behavior of the aircraft at different stages of flight. Therefore, it cannot be assessed only through mass. Geometry, mechanization and elastic properties are interconnected. Changing one parameter may affect others, requiring consistent engineering review.

Inspection and repair methods are also important for operation. Damage to different materials may manifest itself in different ways, so technical personnel work according to the appropriate documentation and established procedures. Moving to a new design means evolving not only the aircraft itself, but also the knowledge, equipment and processes that will support it in the future.

## Spacious interior and real scenarios

Width and height help represent available space, but do not determine the usability of each layout. The customer chooses what proportion of the volume to devote to work, food, rest and storage. The more functions there are, the more important their relative position is. Even a spacious cabin requires a well-thought-out plan for passenger movement and service during the flight.

A small team trip may include general discussion at the start and rest towards arrival. For this scenario, different zones and the ability to change activities without constantly rearranging things are useful. Another owner may fly together more often and distribute the space differently. Dimensions give freedom of choice, but a practical solution appears after defining the tasks.

It is necessary to distinguish between the total number of seats, comfortable places to sleep and the conditions for using the equipment at different stages. These characteristics are not derived from one another. The presence of a bed does not indicate how many people can rest at the same time, and a long sofa does not automatically become an additional permitted seat on takeoff. For each aircraft, its approved configuration is important.

## Digital control and the role of the crew

In the fly-by-wire system, the movements of the controls are converted into electrical signals, which are processed before acting on the actuators. This architecture allows for the implementation of certain crew assistance logic and restrictions. But capabilities are always implementation specific. The general name of the technology does not mean the same functions on all aircraft where it is used.

It is important for the pilot to understand the system's response and its current mode. Useful automation should make behavior predictable and maintain the overall flight picture. However, it does not eliminate the need to master the aircraft. A modern cockpit requires knowledge not only of the layout of the screens, but also how commands, displays and equipment operation are connected.

The task change example illustrates the importance of this understanding. If the crew adjusts the route or profile, they must ensure that the selected mode matches the new intent. A clear interface helps you see this correspondence. Therefore, the development of the NeXus cockpit is associated not only with graphics, but also with the organization of human interaction with a large amount of data and functions.

## New power plant and its integration

The engine is examined together with the aircraft. Its weight, dimensions, consumption and operating modes affect the design, characteristics and maintenance. Therefore, the use of a new engine family requires the coordination of several systems. The success of an individual engine on the test bench is important, but does not replace confirmation of the entire installation in the final configuration.

Long range also does not depend on one unit. It is influenced by aerodynamics, aircraft weight, fuel supply and the selected mode. If you compare projects only by engine thrust, you may miss the main part of the transport problem. The practical result comes from the coordinated operation of the entire aircraft, and not from the maximum value of one parameter.

For the owner, the engine also means the future technical program. Service, availability of support and staff training all matter. These questions accompany the commissioning of a new model. It is useful to consider them in advance, since the aircraft must not only prove its capabilities in testing, but also regularly fly after delivery to the customer.

## How to read stated range and speed

7,500 nautical miles corresponds to approximately 13,890 kilometres. However, this is not a promise to fly such a distance with any load and in any wind. The declared range has initial conditions: the number of people, mode, reserves and other accepted assumptions. For a real flight, a separate calculation is used that reflects the actual task.

Maximum speed is also not a mode that automatically provides maximum range. During preparation, an agreed upon option is selected taking into account time, fuel and limitations. Therefore, two beautiful numbers in the model description cannot be combined into one universal scenario without verification. Their usefulness is revealed when the conditions for which they are obtained are known.

The rollout of the Falcon 10X confirms the program's transition to a significant production stage. Further readiness will be shown by the results of inspections and changes in the status of the aircraft. For the future user, the meaning of the project lies in the combination of range, space and control technologies. How fully this combination is realized is determined by the consistent confirmation of the characteristics and subsequent operation of specific production aircraft.

When evaluating test results, it is important to know the condition of the aircraft at the time of measurement. The composition of the equipment, weight, software version and external conditions are included in the description of the specific experience. If these inputs change, engineers check the applicability of previous findings. This order allows you to associate the declared property with a specific configuration, and then consistently transfer the confirmed information into operational documents. For the new model, this is part of the path from the project to the aircraft, the capabilities of which are understandable and reproducible under the intended operating conditions of future crews.
