New PlaneSync integrations with Brazos, Navi and Jet-Care. What problems do flight logs solve and why automatic transmission requires high-quality interpretation.

On February 11, 2026, Garmin announced three new integrations of flyGarmin logs with Brazos Safety Systems, Navi and Jet-Care services. They are designed to analyze flights, engine conditions and other operational data. Transfer is enabled by the owner for the selected aircraft and is subject to compatible equipment and required subscriptions.

PlaneSync allows you to link the recording of parameters in avionics with the subsequent operation of external services. But the digital magazine and the technical solution belong to different stages. The data obtained must be checked, compared with context and interpreted correctly. Automatic downloading assists in delivering information, but does not, in and of itself, confirm the condition of the aircraft or replace the completion of required maintenance procedures.

## From sensor to flight recording

During aircraft operation, various systems receive information about its position, movement and equipment status. The available parameters depend on the installed configuration. Therefore, two aircraft with similar displays may generate different logs. When evaluating a service, it is important to know what data is actually recorded on a particular aircraft, not just the generic name of the avionics family.

Timestamp quality also matters

A hypothetical example is a comparison of the engine mode with the flight stage. An increased value at a certain moment may have a different meaning during climb and during a quiet cruising phase. Without context, the figure looks the same, but the explanation may differ. This is why a useful log contains not only an individual measurement, but also sufficient information about the conditions under which it was obtained.

## What does the transfer automate?

According to Garmin, compatible avionics data can be transmitted to the ground via GDL 60 and PlaneSync, and other download paths are available for certain configurations. Automatic sending with GDL 60 requires a terrestrial LTE or Wi-Fi connection and a valid subscription. Therefore, we are not talking about guaranteed continuous transmission of all parameters during any flight.

The difference between recording and delivery is important in everyday work. The flight could have ended, but the log would not yet appear in the service due to lack of connection or another reason. If you consider landing time and data availability time as one event, you may misjudge the completeness of the report. A clear status display helps you see where the information is located.

Automation is useful primarily because of its consistency. Fewer manual steps mean fewer chances of forgetting to send a file or selecting the wrong entry. However, exceptions still require attention. If some data is missing, the system should allow this circumstance to be noticed. A neatly designed report does not become complete just because it is generated automatically and looks convincing.

## Different services solve different problems

Brazos Safety Systems works with flight data monitoring and operational quality. Navi uses aviation records and Garmin data for analysis, while Jet-Care evaluates turbine engine performance trends. These are different areas of processing. Connecting several services does not mean that they provide the same reports or interchangeable conclusions on the same issue.

It is useful for the operator to first determine the desired result. Is analysis of a specific flight, monitoring of parameter changes or accounting support required? The answer determines what information is needed and who will use it. Communicating more data without a clear purpose is not always more useful: the additional volume requires maintenance and can make it harder to understand what really matters.

A hypothetical team can use one report for training and the other as additional information for technicians. Each case requires its own criteria and procedure for consideration. If we combine everything under the general word “analytics”, it’s easy to expect from the service something that it is not intended for. A clear division of tasks helps to get practical results from each integration.

## Trend differs from single value

Analysis over time allows you to see changes in a parameter that are not obvious from one flight. But comparison requires comparable conditions. Different temperatures, altitudes, modes and loads can affect the observation. Therefore, a sequence of numbers is only useful when accompanied by an explanation of what is being compared and what differences have already been taken into account by the chosen methodology.

Let's imagine two hypothetical flights of one aircraft. In one it spends longer in the climb, in the other it enters the cruising phase earlier. A simple comparison of averages over an entire trip may reflect a difference in profile rather than a change in equipment condition. To reach a meaningful conclusion, you need to compare suitable areas and check the applicability of the analysis model used.

This approach does not reduce the value of digital data. On the contrary, it allows you to use them more accurately. The system helps to find questions and observe patterns, and specialists associate the results with technical documentation and actual conditions. Between detecting an unusual pattern and deciding what to do next, there is engineering work that cannot be replaced by a single color indicator.

## Who gets access to the logs

Garmin indicates that transmission to external services is enabled by the user for the selected aircraft. Once connected, existing and future records can be transferred; access to future journals can be changed. This is an important part of integration management, since flight information describes not only the technology, but also the operational activity of a particular aircraft.

It is useful for an organization to understand who each data stream is intended for and why it is used. The technical team may require one set of information, the educational team another. When changing operator or contractor, transmission settings need to be checked. This arrangement helps maintain consistency between the current working relationship and the actual exchange of information.

Equally important is the identification of the aircraft and its configuration in the report. The recording must be on the correct aircraft and changes in equipment must be taken into account in the interpretation. Referencing error can render qualitative measurements useless for the desired task. Therefore, data management begins with accurate input information and continues all the way from the avionics to the final user of the report.

## Digital logs in the operator’s workflow

For the new integration to be useful, reports must have a clear recipient and place in the workflow. Who notices the absence of a record, who reviews the deviation, and how is the outcome of the discussion saved? Without answers, even detailed information may remain unread. Data delivery technology does not replace the organization of their subsequent use within the team.

You should also distinguish between an analytical record and mandatory technical documentation. The ability to automatically obtain parameters does not automatically fulfill all maintenance accounting requirements. The applicability of the data is determined by the specific task and the established procedure. This helps to avoid the false expectation that connecting the service in itself covers the administrative and technical responsibilities of the aircraft operator.

The PlaneSync extension makes the connection between onboard data and specialized analysis tools more accessible. Its practical meaning is to reduce manual transmission and provide more opportunities to work with information after the flight. The quality of the result depends on the completeness of the recording, the appropriate methodology and people who understand the context. It is the combination of these elements that makes a digital magazine a useful operational tool.

For a reliable process, agree how often reports are reviewed and how missing records will be handled. That helps identify a data-transfer problem before the team starts relying on an incomplete flying history for another task. The quality of the workflow matters alongside the technology that transmits the data.
