How to read the rankings

## “Best” depends on what matters to you

Service reflects the passenger experience. Safety takes account of fleet age, serious incidents, audits, pilot training and operating practices. Punctuality measures the proportion of flights arriving at the gate no more than 15 minutes after the scheduled time.

One airline may therefore lead on comfort while another leads on schedule reliability. Positions in different categories should not be compared directly.

The ranking offers an insight into an airline’s overall practices, but every airline authorised to fly must comply with aviation regulations.

If you have a short connection

### Check punctuality

Consider not just the airline’s average percentage but also the season, airport, weather and time available between flights.

The airline and turbulence rankings cover 2025; the best-airport ranking is the 2026 edition. These lists do not recommend individual flights. Check the schedule, aircraft and conditions of carriage before booking.
