About the model

## Features PC-24

- The length of the cabin is 7.01 m: when comparing the layouts, consider the location of the kitchen, toilet and recreation areas.
- The volume of the luggage compartment is 2.55 m3; the dimensions of the opening and the permissible weight of the luggage are checked separately.

PC-24 is a Pilatus jet aircraft with the ability to perform various types of tasks, including business and special transportation.

Model profile

## PC-24: history and features

Following the success of the PC-12, Pilatus began work on a twin-engined PC-24 jet. It was shown in 2013, the first flight took place in 2015, certification and first deliveries - in 2017-2018.

### Programme development

The PC-24 was Pilatus' first business jet. The company has moved some of the practical philosophy of the PC-12 — first of all, a large cargo door and attention to aerodrome flexibility — to a fundamentally new twin-engine platform. After testing, the aircraft received certificates and began to be supplied to operators.

### Design

The PC-24 combines jet speed with a large cargo door and access to certain uncoated runways. These capabilities depend on the condition of the airfield and the restrictions of a particular flight.

### Technical features

For the PC-24, two Williams FJ44 engines and a large cargo door were chosen, designed for a standard-sized pallet. The aircraft is allowed to operate from certain uncovered lanes, but the suitability of a particular airfield requires a separate check.

### Purpose and uses

The model is used for business and special flights, including those where the flexibility of access to airfields is especially valuable. The possibility of using separate uncovered lanes does not mean admission to any site: the state of coverage, the weight of the aircraft and the operator’s procedure are checked for each flight.

### Its place in the family

The PC-24 is a separate Pilatus jet platform rather than a turboprop PC-12 with other engines.

### The platform and its development

The PC-24 was a transition for Pilatus from a single-engine turboprop PC-12 to a jet-powered twin-engine aircraft. At the same time, the manufacturer retained the idea of flexible application: a large cargo door and access to certain uncovered lanes are provided. Such a possibility requires checking the surface, mass and procedure of a particular flight. It is impossible to consider any ground area suitable only because of the general description of the model.

On the business route, the PC-24 combines jet speed with the ability to quickly change the nature of the cabin and load. It may be of interest to a corporate operator or a special service, which is important to access airfields outside the largest nodes. Williams FJ44 engines and the design of its own glider separate it from the PC-12; this is not a version of the previous aircraft with a different powerplant. The published range should be read together with the payload.

### Variant-specific features

The PC-24 differs from the turboprop PC-12 by two Williams FJ44 jet engines and its own airframe design. Pilatus retained the brand’s distinctive idea of a large cargo door and flexible use of the cabin. The ability to operate from certain uncoated lanes depends on the condition of the coverage and the estimated mass; it does not make the aircraft suitable for any airfield. It is the combination of jet speed, access to part of the regional bands and flexible loading that defines the PC-24 niche.

The large side door PC-24 allows you to load items that are uncomfortable to place through the usual passenger door of a small jet. This supports sanitary and special applications, in addition to corporate flights. Tolerance to the uncovered strip is associated with the manufacturer's instructions and the condition of the site itself: loose soil, water or other risk require a separate assessment. For the passenger, the transition between the cargo and VIP layout is also important; the capabilities of a particular side depend on the installed equipment.

### Space in the salon

The PC-24 has a published cabin height of 1.55 m, width - 1.69 m, length - 7.01 m. Height helps to assess the convenience of movement along the aisle, width - the space between the seats. These are the dimensions of the cabin, not the free passage: decoration, furniture and the location of the seats affect the feeling of spaciousness. For a specific board, it is worth looking at the plan and photos of the interior.

### Which means distance.

For the PC-24, the catalogue lists a maximum range of 3,932 km (2,123 nautical miles). This is a benchmark for comparison, not a promise of non-stop travel with any number of passengers. The oncoming wind, airspace bypasses, a lot of luggage and a supply of fuel for care at another airfield change the possible route. Maximum capacity and maximum range cannot be automatically added to a single scenario.

### Luggage and travel preparation

The specified volume of the luggage compartment PC-24 is 2.55 m3. It is impossible to translate it into the exact number of suitcases without the size of bags: the shape of the compartment, the opening of the door and the permissible weight are important. Skis, baby carriages or equipment should be matched in size. Separately, the availability of baggage in flight is specified - the volume of the compartment itself does not say anything about it.

### Position on the range among the models of the manufacturer

The Pilatus Aircraft catalogue for the PC-24 lists 2,123 nautical miles. Among the 1 models of the manufacturer of the same type with a published range, the aircraft takes the 1st place when sorting from a smaller value to a larger one. For the current model, this is a comparison of passport values; a separate flight is planned according to the actual mass and weather conditions.

### Proportion of salon in comparison

The PC-24 published the length of the cabin 7.01 m, width 1.69 m and height 1.55 m. These three sizes describe different properties: length determines how many separate groups of furniture can be placed, and width and height affect the convenience of each zone. There is no comparable full set of sizes in the catalog of another manufacturer model, so a numerical conclusion about the advantage in space would be unreliable. The comparison relates to the dimensions of the empty cabin, and not to the available area after installing the kitchen, partitions and seats.

### Capacity and payload

For the PC-24, the maximum passenger capacity is up to 9 people. The luggage volume of PC-24 is 2.55 m3. The number of seats alone does not indicate how much luggage will actually fit on board. When comparing aircraft, a combination of passengers, fuel and luggage should be checked: the maximum figure for each of these parameters usually describes different design cases. It is this combination that determines how much the published range fits a group with a specific number of things.

### The history of Pilatus: Swiss aviation from Stans

Pilatus was founded in Stans on 16 December 1939. Its initial activities involved maintaining Swiss Air Force aircraft; it later developed its own designs. Trainers and utility aircraft established its reputation for practical operation and the ability to work beyond major airports.

The PC-12 became an important civil programme: development began in 1987, the first flight took place on 31 May 1991, and certification and initial deliveries followed in 1994. The next step, the jet-powered PC-24, extended the brand’s speed capabilities. The first customer deliveries began in February 2018.

### Engineering philosophy: getting closer to the destination

For Pilatus, convenient travel is about more than time in the air: access to the final destination also matters. The PC-12’s large cargo door and flat-floor cabin allow it to combine passenger and transport roles. Flexible layouts are useful for business flights, equipment transport and special missions.

The PC-24 brought some of that versatility to the jet class. It also has a large cargo door and is certified to operate from certain types of unpaved runway. The Pilatus approach expresses Swiss precision through attention to design, manufacturing and continuous model improvements. Access to a smaller airfield can shorten the ground journey and make the whole trip more convenient.

### PC-12 and PC-24: different solutions to a route requirement

The PC-12 is a single-engine turboprop; the PC-24 is a twin-engine jet. Compare them in terms of speed, route length, load and operating cost. PC-12 generations, including the NG, NGX and PRO, differ in flight deck equipment and cabin features.

Special airfield capabilities do not mean a Pilatus can use any landing site. Runway length and condition, aircraft weight and permitted surfaces must meet the limitations of the specific version. The brand’s advantage is most useful when a suitable regional airport really is closer to the journey’s destination.
