The R44 Raven II is one of Robinson's most recognizable light piston helicopters. It helps to understand what tasks can be solved by a relatively compact machine.
Robinson describes the R44 as a four-seater platform. This makes it interesting for short private trips and familiarity with helicopter aviation, but the weight of passengers and luggage require an honest calculation.
The R44 family includes various options. Raven II cannot be confused with Raven I when comparing engine, equipment, and cost of ownership. For the used board, maintenance records are especially important.

What is R44?
R44 is often chosen for training, private travel and easy commercial tasks. Four seats include a pilot, so a maximum of three seats remain for passengers.
The cabin is compact: before buying, it is worth checking the landing, things and review for the usual group of people, and not comparing the R44 with large turbine VIP machines.
Why does fuel determine travel?
The passport range of about 650 km does not contain a mandatory reserve. The additional tank increases the fuel supply, but also uses a useful mass.
For a piston helicopter, the conditions of altitude and temperature are especially important. The real route is checked by the management of a particular car and the training of the pilot.
