The Leonardo AW119Kx combines a single gas turbine engine, a capacious cabin and interchangeable equipment. It is used for passenger flights, medical evacuation and special tasks.
AW119Kx - development of the AW119 family. Unlike the twin-engine AW109 and AW169, it has one Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6B-37A. Leonardo kept the cabin spacious for light class and made it suitable for several scenarios: from transporting people to working with medical equipment.
According to the published characteristics, one or two crew members and up to six passengers are accommodated in the cabin. Wide sliding doors facilitate boarding and loading, and a separate luggage compartment allows not to occupy the useful space of the cabin with things. The number of seats and available space for luggage depend on the equipment of a particular side.
For the sanitary version, the manufacturer describes the placement of one stretcher and four attendants. In other configurations, the cabin will be converted into surveillance, search and rescue or cargo transportation. The presence of a winch, suspension and other equipment should be checked according to the documents of the selected machine.
The AW119Kx has different digital cockpit options: the Garmin G1000NXi for flying according to visual rules and the alternative Genesys complex for instrument configuration. The designation AW119Kx itself does not confirm that a particular instance is equipped and allowed to fly by instruments.

Salon for different tasks
In the passenger layout AW119Kx is designed for a maximum of six passengers. For medical evacuation, Leonardo points to a different scenario - one stretcher and four attendants. Armchairs, medical modules and service equipment compete for mass and volume, so the photo of someone else's side does not describe the cabin of the chosen one.
There are wide sliding doors for boarding and loading. A separate luggage compartment is useful when traveling with things, but the actual load is considered together with people, fuel and installed equipment.
Avionics and tolerance
Leonardo offers a glass cockpit Garmin G1000NXi for VFR and an alternative system Genesys Aerosystems for IFR. Both versions may include a synthetic image of the terrain, a moving map, and an obstacle proximity warning. The set of functions and admission to a specific type of flight are specified by the equipment and certificates of the board.
The single-engine circuit requires a separate check of the route rules and the applicable operator restrictions. Having backup of important systems does not turn the AW119Kx into a twin-engine helicopter.
How to Read Range Numbers
A maximum of 945 km and 5 hours 16 minutes Leonardo leads for additional tanks without a reserve of fuel. On the same page there is an option with one additional tank: 763 km and 4 hours 14 minutes, also without a reserve. For a real flight, you need to deduct the required reserve, take into account the wind, the mass of passengers and the available fuel.
To work with external cargo, the manufacturer indicates an increased maximum weight of 3,150 kg, but this is a separate loading mode. It can not be used as a mass of the passenger side or the promise of a payload without calculation.
